When the System Goes Blind
Operator Panels (HMI) are built to withstand harsh conditions. However, constant pressing, touches with metal tools, or chemical vapors eventually render the touch screen or LCD display unusable.
Most Common HMI Faults
- Touch Shift (Calibration Issue): Pressing one button activates another. Caused by degraded insulation in the touch film. Requires physical touch glass replacement.
- Dead Zones: Specific areas do not respond to touch. Usually caused by micro-cracks in the flex cable.
- Dim or Dark Screen: Touch works, but the display is invisible. The LCD's backlight inverter board or LEDs have reached the end of their life.
